Like all tent footprints, the Exped Lyra III footprint is great for two main things. The first and most important is that it protects the floor of your precious tent, adding heaps of durability and prolonging the life of your tent. It's much easier to replace a ground sheet than the floor of your tent. The second thing is that it offers more pitching options for your tent including the ultralight, fairer weather pitch style of fly and footprint only. On top of this, the Exped Lyra III footprint can double as a small lightweight tarp on its own or over the tent on prolonged camps to shield from UV damage, or simply as a ground sheet for open air bivvys or lunch stops.
